Another HERO fan here who bought MnM and thinks its a great game, but to call it the greatest superhero game is a bit much... its only the greatest to those who like it most.
That said, I like the game. I'm also like Thanee, I compare every superhero game to HERO, HERO was my first and my favorite, despite the character creation clunkiness and learning curve that it required (which is why I couldn't get too many people to give it a try, despite my attempts at telling them that the hardest part of HERO is creating the character

)
MnM is a streamlined HERO. It does many of the things HERO does without all the added math, but there is still math (just simplified). To me, it looks like they read HERO, adapted it to the d20 system, and did away with classes and hit points altogether. It's a sure win, it's a fun game, and I would play it or run it without any hesitation...except that I would run HERO or SAS Tri-stat (not d20) first, if I could.
My only beef with the game is that it sucks for low-powered games. Anything under PL 5 is just a pain in the butt to try to get together without stretching the rules too much. But, that's been my experience and is just IMHO.
