Questions About the Marshal Base Class from MH

Oops. I meant to say "worse". Sorry, "th" and "s" are same sound in Japanese language. I often do such kind of mistakes, especially when I am sleepy. :heh:
No prob', thanks for the clarification. :)

But, taking some levels of marshal class could be a good idea if you are to play epic level campaign. Once you got the full spell slots for a 20th-level caster, all you will get thereafter is caster level. That can be compensated by taking Practices Spellcaster feat.
Yeah, I should have specified when the class might be entered.

And you can have true allies other than your party members. I mean, cohorts, summoned monsters and such.
Hmm, not much use there. Nobody has Leadership, & the party never bothers to summon anything.

Thanks again.

A Marshall's aura is only dismissed when the Marshall is "dazed, unconscious, stunned, paralyzed, or otherwise unable to be heard or understood by his allies".

I would say that, saying magical words (instead of saying orders) to cast a magical spell would make his allies unable to understand him. No?

Actually, come to think of it, it doesn't even matter. The Marshal can dismiss an Aura as a free action, and activate one as a swift action. So a Marshall/Wizard could very well:

- Dismiss aura (free action)
- cast spell (standard action)
- Activate same aura (swift action)

As for how this sequence affects him, I don't see why casting a spell would negate the Aura's effect from affecting himself.

Also, if the Marshal needs to be talking non-stop for his auras to be effective, he becomes a real pain in a stealthy party, no :)

The only time that allies have to hear the marshall is when he activates the ability ("Go team, go!"), as a swift action. Once it's activated, the bonus is granted & doesn't go away until the marshall decides to drop it ("Pyle, what is your major malfunction!") or suffers an effect like Altamont Ravenard listed.

I guess, as long as the marshall has raised their morale, is currently willing & able, & his allies know this, then they get the bennies.
