Questions for a Bard|Warlock

First Post
I was doing up a hybrid Bard warlock that mostly dominates and buffs; modelled after the Lazylord builds.

I'm taking Hellfire Soul for my 15th level attack, and I'm looking for ways to make sure that it is effective. Are there any feats or powers that reveal remaining HP, or at least if it's within the possible damage of Hellfire Soul?

DM's out there - would you be opposed to a Skill check to become aware of a monsters HP (I'm thinking a move action, maybe with Heal?)

Finally, I took Word Of Life for my lv. 10 Daily. what I was thinking was:

  • Kill something with Hellfire Soul. It now is dominated for the encounter with 1HP
  • Menace the Big Bad with the Dominated Creature. get a hit or two in
  • Big Bad Smacks the Dominated, he dies
  • Cast Word of life - creature still dies, because he doesn't have healing surges
  • Big Bad gets -5 to all defences; cue the action points.

The question is, in essence, can I have a dominated creature count as an ally for a harmless healing spell? RAW this wouldn't work, but surely I can protect whomever I want to, particularly when they are unconscious/dead.

I allow the target of a spell to determine if he's an ally or enemy. If you cast a healing spell on me, I'll be your friend, if only for a second.

You got one thing wrong though: creatures (not PCs) have 1 healing surge per tier.

Oh holy crap that's awesome! Dominated McPunching-bag can stay around for another round, wasting the bad's attacks :D

Thanks!

Dm's have to be very careful with how the enemy/ally thing is treated. It could lead to such cheese as "I suddenly hate all of my friends! Decree of Khriad! (All enemies in a burst 3: slide two and attack a creature of casters choice)
In this example, a control effect on your friends could turn a level one daily into a foolishly good control/reposition/enabler.
