Questions on Archers, Invisibility, and Hide

2. House rule or sniper rule from S&S. I am thinking of basing the circumstance bonus on number of attacks....treating the arrows as tracers. The more tracers that are fired, the easier it is to pinpoint the attacker. (+5/attack to spot)

But what if she takes her shots and then moves 5 ft? That would not "pinpoint" her location. You may still know the general location, but I'm not sure a "pinpoint" after the shots take place and then a subsequent 5 ft. move is viable. I would see it more like a % chance to locate the character's location with some degree of accuracy.

Drasmir,

Just for your insolence, you shall feel my wrath on morrow's eve!

As for "pinpoint"-ing the location of a invisible person....this is how I see it.

If I said "Drasmir...could you help me find my contact lens? I dropped it somewhere in my house..." How long would it take and hard would it be to find it?

If I said "Drasmir, could you help me find my contact lens? A dropped it in the kitchen...." Probably significantly less time and difficult to find the lens in this situation?

Why? Because you know with a greater degree of accuracy where to look. I cirumcstance bonus would still apply, even if she moved 5 ft. The invisible character (who happens to be my wife :)) would be close enough to the area of shooting to increase the potential of spotting the character.,...only significant movement (without attacking) would negate the circumstance bonus to spot....

That would be my view anyhow.....

Now shut up and don't be late tomorrow Drasmir. ;)

(DMs have to keep their players in line...otherwise they feel like they can get away with murder....)

In those terms, yes, it does make sense. You are basically doing the same thing I was suggesting, but instead of % chance it is based on +/- to skill check.

Also, as a side note, you can rule this however you choose. It's not MY character, but keep in mind... You do have to live with your wife after you make you judgement on the situation. The wrath of a woman is worse than being a 1st level character against the Tarasque (and no, I'm not saying your wife looks like the Tarasque:D )

Define late...;)
