Quick ASOIAF A Clash of Kings question (SPOILER)

CrusaderX

First Post
I've just re-read ACOK, and am wondering...

(spoiler, so if you haven't read the book, go away)

...are we to assume that Theon Greyjoy is dead? He seems about to be killed at the end of ACOK, and he doesn't show up at all in A Storm of Swords, IIRC. Does anyone expect him to show up alive and well (or alive and unwell) in an upcoming book?

I have learned to not make any assumptions about the fates of characters in Martin's world unless he clearly makes a point of showing the body. Heck even that is not a certainty now *cough Caitlin cough*.

What he said.

I for one hope he is done, but GRRM invested a lot of character time with him, especially showing the strain between his upbringing w/ the Starks and the life style and expections of his birth home. GRRM sort of sets up a hole for redemption for the character (which I do not see) or he has set a stern path of resistance for Theon to tread until he is at the top of his family and his throne. Either way, I do not see the end for Theon yet. As long as there is potentail growth with a character, then they are usually safe, it is when that growth grows stagnant that the character should begin to worry. Me, I would also like to see Sansa dead, a slow painful death would be best.

I don't know if I care to see Theon back. It has been made clear that their are much tougher and IMHO interesting Greyjoys vying for power.

As far as Sansa, I actually like her characterization, I think she is very believable for a young girl raised to be a princess thrust into all of this turmoil. I understand people wanting to choke her but that makes her all the more interesting to me as she still has a lot of growing up to do and I expect her character to change quite a bit.
