Need some confirmation on what I think I'm reading about combat. I made a TWF Ranger for my wife. The ranger has strength of 16, so +3 modifier. His basic melee attack with a longsword, is going to be 1d20+6 (+3 str, +3 prof) and hit damage of 1d8+3 (str). Now, this is totally separate from her powers. Some powers, like Hit-and-Run, let you add your strength bonus to damage, but others, like Careful Attack, do not - is that right?
Hit and run attack would be 1d20+6 (+3 str, +3 prof) and 1d8+3 hit damage (+3 str), whereas Careful Attack would be attack of 1d20+8 (+3 str, +3 prof, +2 power benefit of add strength bonus) and hit damage of simply 1d8 (no strength modifier listed in "hit" section).
If a "hit" section just says 1[W] with no "+ str mod" then your strength modifier doesn't increase the damage for that power?
Is this the right way to read these (and other) powers? For context, the last game I played seriously was 2e..
