Quick DMG question. Ogre ECL.

In the DMG there is a small chart for different monster's ECL when played as PC's. Can someone tell me what the Ogre's ECL mod is? I am working on an ogre barbarian. That will be fun; I usually play clerics, wizards and rogues

That Dragon Mag. article suggests 8, however.

Possible Errata?

Dragon #293 has Ogres as +8 ECL.....it's not "official errata", but it might be closer to a correct value.

Many of the ECLs in the article seem high, and you might want to go for +6 or +7.

I do think that +5 is too low.

8 levels seems about right to me. Large is a huge advantage if you use it properly.
