Quick question about a whip

It says in the PHB (104) that a whip counts as a projectile weapon range 15 feet with no range penalties. Now, here's the dilemma. Does that mean you could take Point Blank Shot, Precise Shot, Rapid Shot, Shot on the Run? And does that mean you can take the Deflect Arrows feat to block it? It seems a little odd...

Whips and Ranged feats: Yes. All ranged combat feats apply to a whip. Point Blank is excelent in this reguard, because you always get the bonus.

Whips and Deflect Arrows: Never thought about it before, but since deflect arrows is specificaly worded to allow you to deflect ranged weapons, it would work as well.

Yep. All that stuff works with (or against) whips.

Note that the balor's whip counts as a melee attack, though (unless it was errata'd while my back was turned).
