Quick Sheathe Feat

First Post
Is this feat in any published books, and if not has anyone looked to make one?

This feat allowes you to sheathe, holster, or otherwise put away your weapon as a free action.
Prereqs: Quick Draw, Dex 13+

As a feat, it's a little weak. Maybe make it also remove the AoO.

Still, it's not going to be used that often, as you can just drop a weapon for free, and in most cases, that's going to be good enough.

Considering people typically get one feat per 3 levels, they are a tremendously scarce resource. This would be far too weak to be worth taking, being not far off cosmetic. I, like Crothain, would just roll this benefit into quickdraw (which isn't startlingly powerful as it is, if you know what I mean!)

Cheers

I guess I should have stated that it also removed the attack of opportunity. Would you allow that with a mod to the quick draw feat? Because it's not all that powerful either seeing as how anyone with a BaB of +1 can draw a weapon while they move.

Sure, give them a piece of pie to go with it too. Really, both effects (free action draw and free action sheath with no AoO) aren't going to break the game. No seriously, add a third effect and call it a tactical feat. Maybe mea or free grip change on a reach?

Hey there!

This is the version that I recently made, almost identical to yours.

QUICK-SHEATH (General, Fighter)

You can sheath a weapon in the blink of an eye.

Prerequisites: Base attack +3, Quick-Draw

Benefit: You can sheath a weapon as a free action. Doing so does not provoke attacks of opportunity.

Normal: Sheathing a weapon is a move-equivalent action that provokes attacks of opportunity.

I'm very biased on this matter as I have a character that I try and get away with this on a regular basis. Quickdraw gets less and less valuable as the character levels. I've tailored the feel of the character to all quickdraw, knowing that this style is much less efficient for feat usage. I really feel that quickdraw should let you really quickdraw. Not just draw a sword, but kick up that blade from the ground, or pull the dagger from the villain's back. This same comfort with weapons should apply to the parking of a weapon in a sheath etc. If a character took the "Quick-Sheath" feat, then around level ten would come the realization that 2 feats are wasted on one flavour idea.
