Quickling

I do really like the earthcancer centipede's alracity for the quickling. The quickness ability of the choker might also be something to look to as a model.

I would actually argue that they should *not* be completely invisible. The original MM2 entry says "When motionless in natural cover they are totally invisible." It also clarifies that "They are 90% likely to be visible when moving, due to their speed."

To me that says that their size and skill at hiding makes them almost impossible to spot in a forest, and that they can move so fast you only see a motion blur. *Not* that they're some sort of transparent creature. A quickling standing still in the middle of the road would be no more invisible than any other critter that size. And when they're hidden or in motion, See Invisibility or True Seeing should have no effect on their visibility.

good point. in the 2E sources, there is no caveat about cover (simply "100% invisible"), but i am fine with going either way. we're going to give them a ridiculous Hide bonus one way or the other.

Whoa...I had no idea that pixies had greater invisibility. That shows you how often I use pixies in my campaign. :heh:

Haste is less impressive...that's why the earthcancer's ability ups the bonuses. ;)

good show. ;) adding in some parts from the aforementioned actaeon; how does this look now?

Alacrity (Su): A quickling moves and attacks with supernatural swiftness. It has a +X(5?) haste bonus to its Armor Class, (and a +30 ft. enhancement bonus to its land speed - do we want this part?).

When making a full attack action, a quickling may make two extra attacks with any manufactured weapon it is holding. The attack is made using the creature's highest attack bonus with that weapon.

I like quickling alacrity as the +5 AC bonus, and would recommend the 30ft enhancement bonus to speed. Maybe an even higher one. Specifically, recommending it as part of its existing movement of 240ft. Because there's no way that such speed is natural, and it'd be nice if it vanished in antimagic.

If you give them an extra standard action or two per round, they could easily move, attack, and then hide. With their crazy speed, they could probably even do this while moving at half speed, so they'd take no penalty to their hide checks.

Good point. There's also these two abilities:

Swift Strikes (Ex): A cuprilach's can use a standard action to make a full attack, firing all its arrows for the round before the first hits its mark or stabbing several times with a rapier before a foe has time to recognize it has been struck. This ability makes the cuprilach fiendishly effective in a surprise situation or when it strikes first in combat, since it can reveal itself and execute a full attack, dealing sneak attack damage with each hit.

Focused Movement: When moving, a musteval can take a move action and a standard action at any point during the move. The musteval cannot take a second move action during a round when it used its focused movement ability. Mustevals almost always use this ability to move before and after using a spell-like ability during combat.

i could see even as much as half of their speed being magically enhanced. how much sounds good?

i think they should be able to take a move action, a standard action, and be able to attack at least once all during the same round.
