R1: Hired Hands (nimisgod judging)

Kerrz picks up the scimitar and shield at his feet and moves halfway between his companions and the creatures in order to block the way to his surprised friends. He sets himself at the ready to counter any oncoming attacks.

Surprise round

The lead gnoll rushes at Kerrz, a fierce looking battleaxe in its hands. It takes a mighty swing, but misses by a fair margin. The other two gnolls hang back, aiming shortbows at Kerrz. They both fire into the melee, but neither arrow finds its target.

ooc: Gnoll #3 attack = 11
Gnoll #2 attack = 6
Gnoll #1 attack = 17 (would've hit if he'd gone before gnoll #3)

Kerrz swings his scimitar heavily towards the gnoll, slicing across the air with expert precision.

If, somehow, that hits, then I leave the damage up to you.

At the sound of strangers, Valan awakens and looks around for a moment to get his bearing. At first opportunity he will stand and pick up his shield

Reaching behind his sheild, Valan pulls out a low quality sickle and (acutly aware of his lack of armor) he assumes a defensive stance

EDIT: OOC: 1st round: Stand up(move action)-Pickup sheild(move action)[if that's possible]
2nd round: Draw weapon(move action)-Total Defense(standard action)[New AC=18]

Surprise round concluded, start of Round 1

Kerrz swings his scimitar at the lead gnoll, but his timing is just a little off as the blade cuts through the air just in front of him.

Ragnikyr, awakened by Kerrz' shout, quickly sizes up the situation to see how he can be most helpful. He then takes up his lute and begins performing a stirring ballad. The rest of the party feels their spirts emboldened and hearts lifted.

ooc: Ragnikyr is using inspire courage so everyone is at +1 to hit & damage. I'll try to get a map up late tonight or tomorrow morning, but for right now here's the basic layout. Ragnikyr, Valan, Gideon & Tor are all within 5' of the campfire, which is approx. 40' from the road. Kerrz is halfway between the camp & the road. Gnoll #3 is directly in front of Kerrz, gnolls 1 & 2 are 5' off the road on your side and 20' left & right of Kerrz & gnoll #3.

Kerrz draws his scimitar back and takes another swing at the gnoll infront of him, trying to hack away at it.

OOC: We'll have you roll it all from here, you can probably just wait till everyone posts their actions for the round and then do all the rolls at once.
