R1: Hired Hands (nimisgod judging)

OOC: Hi, everyone! I'm back from my vacation a bit early -- just in time to get in a good bit of hacking and slashing!

Thanks for running Ragnikyr, Dungannon. Looks like you handled him just fine.

I'll be posting my actions soon.

Cheers,
Roger

The sight of the blood of his friends stirs Ragnikyr to more direct action. He casually discards his lute onto his bedroll and picks up his trusty longspear. He steps around Gideon and the campfire until he stands near Tor. Mindful of the whirling chains, he is ready to unleash steely death on his enemies.

OOC: Being on vacation is great -- I had a bit of time to put together a battle map of the situation.

Small Map of Round 3

Large Map of Round 3

I think I've got everything and everyone in the right position, but it's strictly unofficial until the DM gives it the thumbs-up.

Also, sorry if your mini doesn't quite fit, but I did the best I could. I'm open to suggestions.

Anyway, I've stopped the Inspire Courage, but it continues to work another 5 rounds. By then we'll probably be victorious or dead. 5 more rounds to go.

Dropping the lute is a free action. Readying the longspear is a move action. My actual movement consisted of:

Start at G10 (6/6)
G9: 1 (5/6)
F8: 1 (4/6)
E7: 2 (2/6)
D6: 1 (1/6)
D5: 1 (0/6)

I'm threatening both Gnoll1 and Gnoll3. Gnoll1 has cover, though. I'll take AoOs if they happen to arise -- if Gnoll1 is tripped and then tries to stand, for example.

Cheers,
Roger

Sweep 'im off his feet Valan chuckles lightly, despite the battle.

Round 3

Ragnikyr abandons his lute and readies his longspear. Thus armed, he strides forward to join the melee.

Kerrz valiently continues the battle. This time, only the fortunate placement of the axe saves the gnoll, as Kerrz' blade glances off the handle.

Valan lowers his shoulder and charges at the leftmost gnoll. Just before colliding with the creature, Valan pulls up short and whips his sickle at his opponent's legs. The gnoll is surprised by the move, but its solid base allows it to absorb the blow and remain standing. Valan, sensing the failure of his attack, drops his sickle to avoid a counter by the gnoll.

The gnoll fighting Kerrz looks at the new notch in his handle and roars his disapproval, followed by another swing of the axe. The blow lands solidly again, this time opening a gash in Kerrz' left side.

The righthand gnoll, still unfettered by melee opponents, reloads his shortbow and lets fly at Gideon again. The outcome is the same, however, as the arrow flies harmlessly wide.

The gnoll Valan tried to trip lets out a short huffing noise, suspiciously similar to a chuckle. He swings his axe at the unarmed cleric, but is apparently better at avoiding attacks than making them. The blade whistles harmlessly through ther air a good foot in front of Valan's chest.

Gideon, sensing no immediate danger from the bow-weilding gnoll, calmly rises to his feet, takes a step back to give himself a little more room, and reloads his crossbow.

Tor swings his chain at the closest gnoll, but still can't find a rythym. The weapon flies high this time, missing the gnoll's head.

[sblock]Kerrz attack: 13
Valan trip: 23
Valan strength check: 10, luck domain reroll: 7

Kerrz staggers slightly under the blow, watching the blood fly from his gash. However, he stands his ground and swings the scimitar back to take another blow.
