R1: Hired Hands (nimisgod judging)

ooc: After reading the section in the SRD, I'm ruling that the +2 gp applies to the lot of ammo, so for a light crossbow the cost would be 3 gp/10 bolts.

OOC: Cool with me. But I'm going to ask in the general thread just so that we can have a judge weigh in on the matter.

One of the stableboys looks up at you, surprised to be treated with such courtesy. "He, he's over there..." the boy stammers out, pointing toward what looks like an office at the back of the stable.

"Perfect!" Valan makes his way to the office and introduced himself to anyone he can find

Valen enters the office and looks around. At first glance, it appears to be empty, until he hears a noise near the desk. Then a mop of curly brown hair appears, followed closely by a lined but cheerful face, as a halfling climbs out from underneath the desk and around to meet you. "Greetings and salutations! I'm Doc, Doc Morningstar. How may I help you?"

"My companions and I were looking for a strong, fast horse and your name was the one most revered in that sense. The only problem is we're on a budget so we were hoping to peruse your fine selection."

Tor notices that negotiations have begun, but does not attempt to take part in them. Unless the deal is truly extraordinary, he intends to remain on foot.

"Well, let's see what we can do, shall we? Is this horse going to be for riding, or a pack animal? How far do you plan on travelling and how long to you plan on taking to get there? I have a wide variety to offer, and knowing your specific needs will help me to better fill them." he finishes with a smile.

Valan returns the smile lightly "Pack, though I strong riding animal would be proffered for after our adventure has run its course a pack animal would be of less use" "Three days at a decent walking pace anything slower would be an unacceptable burden"

"Well now, I think I might have something that could interest you. Come with me," Doc motions for you to follow as he heads out into the barn. About halfway towards the front entrance, he stops at a stall and points to a decent looking roan. "This gelding should suit your purposes. Even moderately loaded down he can still make decent time, especially with the agreeable weather we've had lately. If you're looking at three days, he could make it as far as Ravensdale in that time, provided you stick to the road and don't spend too much time in Allimon. If Allimon is your destination, he could make that in a day and a half, easily. The question is, will you be able to keep up with him?"

ooc: "moderately loaded" means a medium load (151-300 lbs.). With that, the horse can travel 4 mph, or 32 mpd. If you are all at light loads, you're speed is 3 mph, except for Ragnikyr who would be 4 mph.

"That would suit us well, but is he skittish? Will the sounds of thunder or battle cause him to dart? These are large concerns expecially when our lives may be in it's packs"
