R1: Hired Hands (nimisgod judging)

"Brigands or not, there may well be a bounty of some sort for creatures such as these." Ragnikyr pulls out a short sword and hacks off the heads of the two dead foes. He stows them somewhere discretely on the horse. He then cleans his weapons, gathers them up, along with his lute, bedroll, and other belongings, and is ready to travel or wait until dawn.

"At the first signs of light, I think we should be on our way, gentlemen."

"Alright" Valan checks on BJ, puts on his armor, and lays down. Wide awake from the fight and worried now that he wont have the chance for morning rituals. "At first light"......."someone should tie up the gnoll"

"I'm willing to try tying up our prisoner, though I've no particular skill at it. Also, I don't seem to have any rope. Do we have a bit to spare?"

OOC: Ragnikyr is going to take 20 on this if he can. He has no ranks in Use Rope, but he has a Dex modifier of +2. If someone else would rather do this, that's fine; if someone wants to Aid Another on me, that's fine too.

"I'll help you tie him up, but I don't have any rope." Gideon steps over to the Gnoll. "Make sure to tie it tight."

Kerrz wanders over to the saddlebags and pulls out a length of rope, throwing it at Gideon and Ragnikyr. "Here you go. That should hold him," Kerrz says with a wince at the wounds on his torso.

Ragnikyr and Gideon bind the gnoll and tie his unconcious body to BusterJack. The rest of the party gathers up the campsite gear and rests up after the brief but bloody battle. After about an hour you can see the sky to the East turn pink, then blue as the sun rises into the sky. Once it has risen enough to provide sufficient light to travel by, you begin to move on toward Allimon.

Around midday you notice a cloud of dust in the distance in front of you. There appears to be a large group moving on the Western Road toward you and Orussus.

By large, does it appear to be the size of a dozen men, a full caravan, or an invading horde? Is there anyplace nearby that we could gain cover, concealment or at least higher ground should things turn nasty?

"I think it would be polite to yield the road," says Ragnikyr, as he steps towards the very edge of the road. He draws BusterJack off to the side as well. Quickly, he digs out a blanket or two from the saddlebags and throws them over the gnoll, not wanting to necessarily draw any unwelcome questions at this point.

Cheers,
Roger

As the strangers get a little closer, you begin to make out some details. There appear to be two wagons accompanied by 8-10 horses & riders. There is really nothing nearby to hide behind as the road is flanked on both sides by open plains. There are a few trees, but nothing substantial enough to provide concealment. Farther inland you can see forest, but it's simply too far away to be of any practical use right now.
