"Doc? Well, hold on and I'll let him know." The boy ducks back inside and closes the door. You hear some voices, but can't make out the words. Shortly thereafter, the door is opened again, this time a little more forcefully. Before you stands a dwarf. One who appears a little along in years, but still hale & hearty. He's wearing a thick leather apron and gloves, a large hammer clenched in his right hand.

"I hear you have a delivery for me, eh? From someone named Doc? Care to tell me a bit more about this, or should I have the guards haul ye away right now?" The smith doesn't appear to be in the best of moods this evening.

Tor looks perplexed and slightly anoyed.

"A man named Doc in Orussus asked for us to bring a package to Barak Silverbeard. Is that you sir? He said you expected the package, but not this quickly. We were looking to buy a horse, and he gave us a discount if we agreed to deliver it. Personally, it's all the same to me whether you accept the package, refuse the package, or throw it in the fire. I don't even know what's in the fool thing, and our payment was all in advance. Doc apparently trusted our sense of personal honor to bring the package to you safely and still sealed."

"As we're here and the package hasn't been opened, looks like his judgment was good. We've done what was promised, though, and we've got other work that needs doing. Do you want the thing or not?"

At the mention of calling the guards, Gideon's hand makes the briefest of motions towards his sword before he catches himself. As he clenches his fist a couple of times, he swallows whatever harsh words were in his throat and clenches his mouth shut as Tor speaks.

As Tor finishes up, Gideon takes a deep breath and asks the dwarf, "Why the rude reception? Have you been having some sort of trouble that you need help with?" Though he intended the comment as an offer of help, it comes out with a slight edge.

The dwarf eyes you closely, "Doc in Orussus? Would this be Doc Morningstar? Of the Lucky Star Stables? So, that li'l rapscallion is finally getting around to paying off the bet. Well, hand it over then." Upon determining the sender of the box, the dwarfs mood rapidly improves.

Once the box is in his hands, he addresses Gideon's query, "I apologize for the rude greeting. We've been very busy here, what with everyone making their spring orders. I appreciate you bringing this to me."

Gideon glances around the shop and says to Barak, "Tell me, do you craft all things metal, or is your trade more specialized?"

Barak looks at the trio standing in his doorway. "Ah, if it's made o' metal, me n my boys here can make it for ye. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to get back to fillin' the orders that've piled up on my desk." With that, Barak heads back inside and motions for the manchild to close the door.

Gideon and Valen:[sblock]As you prepare to leave the smith's shop, you notice a large rat staring at you from an alley across the street. After it notices you looking at it, it quickly disappears back into the gloom.[/sblock]
