R1: Hired Hands (nimisgod judging)

Tor takes a carefull look at Dak, Cinder, and Mr. Travers.

[sblock]Do any of them have any rodent like features or habits? Do they perhaps sniff at people a bit as if to catch their scent?

Perhaps more to the point, are there any cats on this farm? Anywhere?

If Tor hasn't seen any cats he will remain silent, ignoring the giant rat.

If he has seen at least one cat hanging about, and if no one seems to have any rodent like features or habits, he will point out the giant rat.

"Look there! That can't be good! Our host's stock is under attack!" He will then unlimber his chain and rush after the rat.[/sblock]

Tor:[sblock]None of the individuals you study exhibit any rodent-like traits or tendencies. You see no cats around at this time, nor do you remember seeing any yesterday, but you weren't really looking for them yesterday nor did you spend much time out in the yard or the outbuildings.[/sblock]

Tor, perhaps from needless paranoia, makes no metion of any unusual events that may be occurring. In fact, he smiles broadly and says "Let's get going, eh? No time like the present!"

He turns to put this suggestion in motion, laying a hand on Ragnikyr's shoulder and gently pulling his companion along. He gives Ragnikyr a wink as he does this.

As they leave the farm, Tor looks around the area hoping to spot a cat.

Farms do tend to keep cat's, right? He thinks to himself, trying to decide whether his worry is pure fantasy. There's something wrong at this farm though, that's for certain. But what? And what phase of the moon is it, anyway?

Tor tries to remember what the moon looked like when he last noticed it.

Gideon nods an affirmative to Tor's comment and starts out. He glances at their escorts and says, "I am ... anxious to get to our destination, could we travel quickly?"

Valan stumbles and catches himself, though laggs a step behind, Tor smiling?. He looks around for an ambush.

Shaking his head and grinning, Valan, quickens step to be beside his compainions. Shaking his paranoia with a wistled tune.

Gideon said:
...could we travel quickly?
Cinder nods, "Ayuh, wit' yer horse we should have 'nuff mounts fer us ta ride out." The old man leads the way to the barn where everyone is given a horse to ride, Kerrz taking BusterJack. Dak says nothing the entire time, and as soon as he's saddled up he heads out of the barn.

"We'll let 'im take the lead, 'e's da one who found it 'n da firs' place. Shouldn' take more'n two, three hours ta get there." The group heads out and begins their journey south over the range.

Tor:[sblock]Keeping an active eye out this time, you do spot a cat up in the loft of the barn, watching the group with keen yet seemingly disinterested eyes.[/sblock]

Cinder looks up to the loft, "Nah, da cats don' really belond to anyone, they jus' live here. As fer names, I jus' call 'em 'Damn Cat'. Dunno if dey have proper names."

Tor let's the matter drop. Mr. Travers seemed nice enough, and the big man would like to help him out with any troubles he might be having, but the situation is too complicated to go busting about without better information.

Riding out, Tor takes a quick visual inventory of any weapons and armor carried by the guides.
