R2: Rats in a Maze [Manzanita judging]

"Well, investigating a 3rd scene may give us usefull information even if it does confirm the sewers as our next stop... and I think it will. Seems to me, though, the only thing worse than going into a flooded set of sewers after a storm is being in them *during* the storm. We should investigate on the surface until the storm has passed."

Fimble McGee, Gnome Illusionist

Fimble shudders at the thought of having to go through the sewers, especially after the water level has risen, possibly above his head. He looks at his taller companions, calming himself with the thought that he would probably ride on Tor or Gideon's shoulders. Rather than speak up, though, he simply nods at the current plan: to search the other sites of robbery on the surface during the impending storm.

OOC: I'm back! Sorry it was such a long absence.

The party makes their way to the eastern side of the city as the clouds continue to darken. No rain falls, but lightning can be seen off in the distance. As they near the Wishing Well, a man steps out of the building dressed in the offiical livery of the Council. He spies the group and hurredly makes his way over. "There you are. Excuse me for intruding, but we've received a notice for one Kith Ra Ei, which one of you may that be?" The monk identifies himself and he and the messenger stand aside to share a brief word in private.

"I am sorry, but a situation has arisen that I must tend to immediately. I take my leave of you now, good luck in your investigation."

With that, the elf hurries into the inn to collect his belongings.

Lightning crashes much closer to the city, and rain begins to fall, cold and steady.

Fimble's eyes go wide at Kith Ra Ei's sudden departure, and even wider at the sudden ominous flash of lightning. "My, my! Well, that was unexpected. Kith leaving, I mean." He looks up at the dark sky. "Well, my vote is to get to the next site very quickly, yes?"

Babette pulls the hood of her cloak up as the rain begins to fall.

"Agreed, Fimble, on both counts. Let's hurry before we get drenched."

The companions continue their journey toward the next stop on the list. The rain continues to fall at a steady pace and the sky grows ever darker. As they turn off First Street and begin to head north through an alleyway, A clap of thunder shakes the air and the downpour picks up intensity.

[sblock=Gideon: ]You see a trio of men standing under a storefront a couple of blocks away. They are trying to be nonchalant, but you get the impression they are giving your group special attention. Please make an INT check for me.[/sblock]

Tor's chain is ready in his hand, and he looks about hopefully for a possible ambush.

His understanding of electricity isn't up to grasping the foolhardiness of walking about draped in metal during a thunderstorm -- he's got the general idea lightning is directed by the gods, and their isn't much point in worrying about the wrath of a god. What precautions could one possibly take against such a thing?

Gideon gives Kith a curt nod, saying nothing as the monk leaves.

[sblock=Dungannon]Int Check (1d20+2=9)

Sorry, I was out for a training the last couple of days.[/sblock]

Gideon taps Tor and Metrius on the should lightly to get their attention. Then he quietly says, "I think we are being watched, the three men under the storefront to the right."
