R2: Rats in a Maze [Manzanita judging]

Gideon sheathes his sword and rushes up behind Drezel, grabbing the gnome from behind. He gets a firm hold on his opponent, practically lifting the smaller guy off the ground.

Fimble moves up toward Otto and throws a color spray of his own at the man. Otto appears to resist the swirling colors, though, and remains standing.

Babette moves between the two enemies and tries to make Drezel lose his wand with a spell. Depite the grease, the gnome manages to retain his weapon.

start of round 3

Drezel doesn't seem to fight the grapple by Gideon. Instead, he starts to...change. After a few seconds Gideon finds himself holding on to some sort of half-gnome, half-rat monster.

Metrius moves around to cut off Otto's retreat, swinging his mace at the rogue.

Tor continues to be stunned & blinded.

Otto, moving slowly due to the grease, makes his way around Metrius, drawing his dagger and taking a swipe at the cleric but missing.

ooc: Gideon's action, followed by Fimble then Babette.

[sblock=crunchystuff: ]
Metrius mace attack on Otto = 8.
Otto dagger attack on Metrius = 9.
Tor has 3 rounds left of being blinded, 4 of stunned.
[/sblock]

Gideon tries to pin the Drezel-rat to the ground, and bashes its head against a rock viciously, hoping to knock it into unconciousness. He halts the head bashing only briefly to whisper in Drezel's ear in Draconic:

[sblock=Whisper]"Yes, put up a fight, that way I can skip the council hearing where they might let you live, and kill you myself. Slowly and painfully."[/sblock]

grapple check (1d20+8=26)

OOC: Wow, I've never had anything but good luck with my grapple checks. Gideon will continue to deal subdual at 1d3+2 points a pop, although I suspect that the were-Drezel's damage reduction will drop that to nothing. ;)

Also, he'll take the option to keep Drezel's mouth covered/pushed into the dirt.

Fimble McGee, the Least Effective Gnome Illusionist Ever

Fimble looks as dazed as Otto would've been had the burst of colors affected him. Scrambling to make up for his failure, Fimble abandons spellcasting and turns to a more blunt method. Or rather, a sharp method. In a single fluid motion, the dexterous little gnome flips his crossbow and a single bolt over his shoulder, loading his weapon even as he aims it at Otto. Knowing he's lost time to hesitation already, Fimble pulls the trigger and lets loose a projectile (1d20+5=18, 1d6=5) at high velocity.

A look of concer crosses Babette's face as she sees Drezel's transformation. She casts another Grease at Otto before moving next to Tor and drawing her silver dagger.

Cast Grease placed with Otto in the SW corner. REF 14

Otto's original Grease ends.
Greased wand round 1 of 2.
Otto's new Grease 2 rounds.

ooc: IcyCool, I need clarification. Are you going to try to pin Drezel or deal damage? Your post states you want to do both but you only have one attack/round.

OOC: Yeah, I looked up the grappling rules the other day and noticed that pinning is a standard action, leaving nothing for making the attack. So Gideon will go for the pin. He's basically hoping to keep Drezel immobilized until Otto is dealt with.

Gideon takes Drezel to the ground and pins the ratman in the dirt facefirst in an effort to prevent him from activating his wand again.

Fimble draws his crossbow, loads it quickly, and lets fly a bolt that strikes the thief in the thigh.

Babette coats the ground around Otto in grease once more then moves to Tor's side.

ooc: Rae, you forgot to include the -4 penalty for firing into melee, but you still managed to hit.

start of round 4

Drezel twists and turns and tries to break free of Gideon's pinning predicament.

ooc: Drezel's Escape Artist check = 13, Gideon should have no problem countering that.

Fimble McGee, Gnome Illusionist

Fimble isn't terribly surprised when his bolt hits. "Perhaps a change in profession is in order," he mutters sarcastically to himself as he loads another bolt into his crossbow. While he loads, he moves north, hoping to get in a flanking position. Taking care not to hit Metrius, he lets another one fly (12) at Otto. His shot is off, but at least he avoided Metrius.

OOC: Shooting into melee holds no risk of me shooting my ally, correct?
