The "goliaths"? Will they have "sling vulnerability"? They'll probably be a race presented as enemies of the halflings...

One can only hope!

I rather like the name - there's a real mythic tone to it. I'll be very interested to see what the race is. (If they're smaller than halflings I'm out of here!)

I'd be sorely disappointed if they're smaller than medium. However, I would be very pleased if they are large, but that would pretty much require a Level Adjustment...

Indeed it does... I'm not sure it's a good thing though. "goliath" (the name) carries a lot of baggage... religious, christian baggage.

A Large, +0 LA race would be cool. Not sure if that is feasible, though.

You're right. I should have made my remark clearer.

The stuff you mentioned is pretty much the same in mythology as it is used in D&D. What I meant was using a word to represent something that already has another meaning.

You sure? From what I've read, the original meaning of "deva" indicates a supernatural "extraplanar" being, but not a good one. I'm pretty certain that there's no mythology where an "asuras" is "a lawful good celestial turned chaotic good". I definitely don't think that calling this new race "goliaths" will be a problem. Starcraft has a unit called goliath.
