Races of the Wild Spotlight

It seems it will not be another Complete Illumian. Instead, it's going to be the Complete Elf.

I knew it! All the elf-hating is just a facade. In truth he even went to great lengths to update one of the most hated books for AD&D - featuring elves, elves, and just plain broken rules - to 3.5

Actually, it makes me wonder. What if they had indeed done one book for each of the races (except half-breeds, which would be explained with humans or their non-human halves)? They probably wouldn't have invented goliaths, ilumians or raptorians, for one thing.

I could take or leave the illumians and raptorians, to put it mildly, but I kinda like the goliaths.

Of course, if they did one race per book, we'd get another gnome/halfling combo book so as to be able to justify it from a profit standpoint. :\

I'm very interested in how they've handled the "non-specialist" elf. Sounds like a very good approach to be taking.

Cheers!

Gotta admit, I've not yet bothered with the "Races of" series, primarily because I've got my own ideas on handling Dwarves, Gnomes, Humans and the like, and I wasn't really interested in the Goliaths and Illumians. But I am interested in Races of the Wild, if only for the revised version of the Catfolk. And the Raptorans seem interesting.. ...Although I'd seriously re-imagine the race as just bird-people, rather then winged, feathered elf-like folk.

...Kinda makes me wonder if the other Races books might have something worthwhile for me after all...

They do offer insight into the nature of the races described, and the crunch is nice, too (including a special priest-PrC for gnome Garl worshippers: The divine prankster. Those guys can tell jokes that kill you. Literally)

Please tell me they did NOT make a different feat with the same name as the FotW feat in CW. Since that one has nothing to do with initiative, I'm very much afraid that they have -- & if so, someone needs 50 lashes with a wet noodle for letting that slip through!
Wasnt there a fotw feat in Sword & fist?
