Racial/Class Immunity to Fire & Vampires

Angel Tarragon

Dawn Dragon
If a character has immunity to fire, either by race or by class feature and later becomes a vampire, does the resultant vampire lose/not gain sunlight susceptability?

Short answer: No

Longer answer: Resistance/immunity to fire has nothing to do with a vampire's sunlight susceptibility. A vampire with a Resist/Protection from Energy (Fire) spell up is still toast if in the sunlight for long enough. So having fire immunity doesn't protect the creature from suffering penalties in sunlight if turned into a vampire.

Rev, your painkillers are giving you strange ideas . I want some of those too :D. But technically the damage by sunlight isn't specified to being fire damage so probably not.

Exposing any vampire to direct sunlight disorients it: It can take only a single move action or attack action and is destroyed utterly in the next round if it cannot escape.

At least in D&D...

Sounds like you are wanting to make something really nasty.

How about this: Vampiric Half-Red Dragon Troll with a Ring of Greater Acid Resistance.

Has regeneration so only takes stun damage from anything other than fire or acid.
Is undead so it is immune to stun damage.
Is a half-red dragon so it is immune to fire.
Wears a Ring of Greater Acid Resistance so it reduces all acid damage by 30.

Even if you can do enough damage with acid to hurt it, the creature has Rapid Healing 5 because it is a vampire.

Damn, that's scary. Add some barbarian and frenzied berserker levels to get deathless frenzy to top that off. It's unkillable adventurer-killer. :]

Berserk rages for vampires isn't as cool as it sounds. Thanks to not having a Con score, they're over in a flash.
