Rackham's Confrontation Miniatures

Okay, should I assume from the positive remarks that many of you don't object to paying what seems like slightly more than DOUBLE the usual price for these minis?

Is there a distributor in the US that I might convince my local game store owner to talk to? I hate not being able to see the figs up close and without a paint job.

Oh Oh! I wanna vent too!!!

Okay, yeah New Wave has been rippin me a new one for a while now.

All the infamous Back orders, no returned emails. hey did finally send me an email via UPS with a tracking number and such, but that was the 2nd shipment in an order that STILL isnt filled!

As well as a couple Fenryll minis I ordered for a friend last OCTOBER!!! still havent seen them!

It must be two guys in a closet that order from another distributor then ship it to us, the buyer.

If they average 2 shipments an order think of the money they lose on shipping!

But anyhow, there is Fantazation and Brookhurst Hobbies that sell them. As how to become a Rackham distributor, first learn to speak french, then get on the horn! and talk to them.

WORD!

Yeah, that price thing...

Hey,

The price for confrontation miniatures is high, due in large part to import cost, I imagine. I use the minis primarily for RPGs and just to paint (I enjoy the painting itself), so I myself am willing to pay extra for a special miniature. For less important minis, like monsters, I generally get reaper minis, but I plan on using our HackMaster minis when they come out.

Canukian Confrontation

Greets!

First, a word about Rackham's miniatures. They're LOVELY. I was lucky enough to get commissioned to paint a few by a friend of mine in the US, on a trade basis (meaning he bought a mini for me to paint for him, and two minis of my choice that I could keep). I'll happily state that they destroy almost everything that GW has ever produced on the same scale (Though the larger scale GW miniatures are quite nice). I'm so impressed by the miniatures that I truly don't mind the price of them. You pay more for quality art.

Second, A warning. If your Canadian, the only Canadian place to buy these miniatures (I believe) is Cyberdungeon. You will get a ROYAL run around by them. They aren't as hard to contact as New Wave appearantly is, but they will lie to you about what they have in stock, and what they can get in, and they are not good at getting back to you about your order. Avoid Cyberdungeon.

Unfortunatly, like with everything else, you can't get the really cool gaming stuff in Canada. I was forced to go across the border for my second order, and had Brookhurst Hobbies reccomended to me highly. So I put in an order for Vallejo paints (Just TRY to find a Canadian game store site with these listed!), and two sets of Rackham miniatures. I had a few questions about ordering, and they got back to me within an hour of each question, and were very helpful.

Oh, and the friend I mentioned earlier? He ordered the commission miniatures for me to paint through Brookhurst and they arrived on his doorstep the very next day, every miniature accounted for.

Now, if only they'd open an actual gaming store in Edmonton so I wouldn't have to pay horrifyingly high Import taxes.. So much for free trade :P

I also love the look of the Confrontation minis. IMO, they're worth the price because nothing else looks like them.

Fantization is a Confrontation wholesaler. You can give the store owner this email address: sales@fantization.com.

Also, you can head over to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/minidealerdiscussion/ if you want to read more New Wave horror stories or the best place to get Confrontation minis. (BTW, I got lucky. My New Wave learning experience only cost me $8 and two months.) I'm sure everyone over there would be more than happy to give you more opinions on Confrontations minis as well.

gubaru beat me to the punch on suggesting you check out the Yahoo Group for much more discussion on this issue.

Confrontation - expensive? yes. awesome figures? also yes, although their line is pretty hit or miss for my tastes. don't care for the orcs, goblins, dwarfs, and many of the humans. but some of the humans are great, as are some of the alchemists and undead. i absolutely love the wolfen, and have purchased quite a lot of them.

The mini I am currently using for my PC in the game I play in is Confrontation's Alahan Valkyrie. She is an aasimar paladin/cleric.

New Wave - i've made several orders with New Wave and have been okay with them. they have a great selection, and i like being able to order minis from a dozen different lines all at once. but definitely don't order anything from them if you need it by any certain time, and know ahead of time that they will charge your credit card for your entire order, even though it may be months before you see your entire order. if these thing are a problem for you, perhaps best to stay away.

Fantization - excellent site and service. no hesitations about recommending them.
