Raging Sneak Attack?

just think of sneak attacking as being an opportunist (not atatck of opportunity). The person is destraced You hit them. There's your sneak atatck correct, now we add in you are raging you are so focused on beatign your opponent with intense combat, you ntice all of his mistakes and capatalize on them.

Does that work for a logical assesment of a raging sneka attack?

From sneak attack in the PHG..."the rogue's attack deals extra damage"

People just get confused with the name "Sneak Attack"...it's not that the rogue is extra sneaky or that the opponent does not see the attack coming. Rogues (and other classes with sneak attack) simply know where to hit where it hurts more.

I see no reason why a character who is raging wouldn't still be able to hit where it hurts. They'd simply be hitting where it hurts harder.

Rage + Sneak Attack you ask? *DEFINITELY*

All sneak attack really is is hitting someone in a vital area, one thats assumed to be normally defended well enough not to allow extra damage.
Its not out of the question to think of a Barb/Rog who rages and instinctively hits those vitals as the opportunities present themselves (ie flatfooted, etc). Every rogue has his own style. While a straight rogue maybe swiftly and carefully stabbing with his rapier in the spleen, the barb/rog is probably just slashing open throats and chopping heads with a greataxe.
Theres no limit on what weapons can be used for a sneak attack (as far as melee), so I don't see how one can limit them. You explain how a greatclub or a spiked chain can be used to strike descreet vital areas in an instant. Sneak attacks are really just hitting something important when someones distracted or not fighting at 100%, not the backstabbing of old.

hehehe

The DM in the group where I am not DM had the same problem as my multiclass char charged into flanking position, stopped singing his bard song, went into barbarian rage combined with bulls strength cast on him before and sneak attacked... Too bad I had no cleric level for an extra SMITE.

???

Was it an very open battle field?

I'm asking since the charge rules says you have to stop moving as soon as you threaten you target.
Perhaps he charged in from the side? ;)
