Raise Dead Questions?

In my 2e campaign, Raises and Ressurections were used sparingly simply because you had to negotiate with the God of the Dead for the release of one of his charges.

Obviously, the more dead people he was in charge of, the more important he was. He wasn't too keen on giving up any of them.

Re: Maybe a tad OT...

Given, Reincarnate is a more chancy spell to cast, since there is the possibility that the PC will come back as something that might not be too easily played (though, with Savage Species out, some difficulties can be overcome). However, it is still a very powerful spell and, sometimes, can even greatly aide the character (Pixie Rogue, anyone?).

I actually encourage the use of reincarnate over raise dead. It's just sooo much more fun when it's random.

I once had a male dwarven warrior reincarnated into a female elven warrior. The dice were rolled out in full view of everyone, by the reincarnated player. :D

As for the price of the diamond, I always stuck with using the value as is, without regard to size or actual quality of the diamond itself. As long as it's worth approximately 500gp at the time that the spell is cast.
