Raising the stakes

I'm not sure if this should be in the E6 thread but has can anyone tell me about their experiences with the "raising the stakes" part of the E6 system? I like the part where death is not permanent but I was thinking of imposing a penalty if the character would have died. Maybe like a -4 to all stats for 24 hours. Also I'm thinking about having conviction restore each game session instead of every 4 hours. Any thoughts?
