Random thought : Were Bear lycanthropy as Vaccination

Traditionally, Were Bear is LG in D&D. Possibly inspired by Beorn from Hobbit.

Anyway, what prevents a country or kingdom from using Were Bear lycanthropy as a kind of Vaccination? If all the humanoid children were infected by this lycanthropy, most of them will grow up into LG people. And they will form incredibly strong militia.

It's traditionally Chaotic Good and definitely [not possibly] based on Beorn.

But, to your point, there's no nothing stopping you. Sounds like somebody's campaign world is getting a city/nation of werebears. Cool.

The lack of a sufficient number of cooperative werebears?

The fact that most people don't want to be cursed with lycanthropy and probably wouldn't cooperate? Much less when you want to curse their children.

The fact that any church that isn't CG will lose its flock under this program?

I think there are a ton of reasons why this wouldn't work in a typical game, but if the DM wants it to work in his setting, hey, go for it!

Start with a small group- a family, a town, a cult.

Over time, perhaps their numbers swell as their members do great things...

Evenuptually, a core group builds into a cadre of elite warriors with restricted membership. Those who wish to join must prove their worth and go through a special rite of initiation...
