Randomized Hit Points

I favor a system that goes like this:

1. Max hp at first level
2. Roll at 2nd level & add to max from first
3. At 3rd level and up, reroll all HD except the 'max at first' die. Take either your newly-rolled total or your old total, whichever is higher.

I've done similar since 2e. Though we rerolled the first die, too. Removes some variance while still allow the players to roll (a big deal for my players).

Personally I am done with random character generation. I use a form of pointbuy for stats and HP are "average +1" per level. Normal NPCs / Monsters get "average HP". Badass NPCs / Monsters get max HP.

Average +1 (for those of you mathmatically disadvantaged :D)
d4 = 3.5
d6 = 4.5
d8 = 5.5
d10 = 6.5
d12 = 7.5
