Ranger Combat Styles

FYI, I don't think Rangers get anything for their combat style at L16 normaly.

Other suggestions.

Seadog style - Naval combat for the sailing ranger
Jungle Style - A swinging, jumping, maneuverable style
Porpus style - Underwater combat specialist
Eagle Style - Aeriel combat specialist

Not all of these are for standard races, but no reason an aquatic elf or other race can't take ranger levels, so why not?

You are correct. They only get 3 combat styles/advancement, at 2nd, 6th, and 11th levels. But I have never been a fan of abilities being front loaded. Most classes don't seem to hand out new abilities/uses after around the 12th level, and I think that's stupid. Give people a reason to stay with a core class till the end (20th level). As it is now, the core classes tempts people to pick up a prestige class or multiclass rather than sticking with just one.

Hey Thele, if I wanted to find more of your work, where would I look?

How about a freebie?

I have 25 books available as pdfs at:
http://www.rpgnow.com/default.php?manufacturers_id=507

I only wrote a handlful of them, but I edited all of them. I had to do a number of rewrites on some of the books, but you won't see my name listed as a co-author in the older books. Lately I have been writing the "17 Magic item" books.

Email me through the forums, Coredump, and I will be happy to send you a couple books for free. Pick any 2 (except for Unorthodox Paladins), email me your choice, and I will fire off the download links to you.

If any of you others want 1 free pdf, email me with your choice and I will do the same. You must email me through the forum utility (click my name and select Send Email to TheLe). Please note that only people who have already posted on this thread here are eligeable for this free book. I don't want people sneaking into the thread just to get a free book. Sorry.

Hey Le, man, you are cruel;)
Did you realize when one follows the link you posted, the first thing appearing is Unorthodox Paladins with a cover artwork that acts just as an irresistible magnet?

LoL. What can I say? My marketing talents are a gift. And a curse.

Far be it from me to be totally cruel. Here, I just created a coupon for you all:
http://www.rpgnow.com/?coupon=21958

Click that link to add Unorthodox Paladins to your cart for $6.99 (some $3.00 off). It's good until Monday.

Hooah.

Le's books are good. I got a chance to paruse through most of them. While I'll admit I probably won't use most of it (There's way to much of it), it's been interesting, gotten me thinking a bit, and has some unique characters/classes.

And no, this isn't a suckup, I've helped him tweek some rules on occasion (Here on the boards actualy) :)

Ambusher:
2nd: +# in hide, move silently, spot, and listen
6th: able to "ready" a full-round action, able to make full-round actions during surprise rounds
11th: When acting during surprise rounds, get +# to attacks and damage

(or something the like)

That seems pretty powerful, Land, especially the 6th level ability. You could give them a 1/day or 3/day ability to have an extra standard action at any time, like the choker does.

I guess the bonuses are a bit... high?

Ambusher:
2nd: +4 in hide, move silently, spot, and listen
6th: 3/day ability to have an extra standard action at any time (see choker)
11th: When acting during surprise rounds, get +(1/2 class level) to attacks and damage
