Ranger / Paldin Spells and Casting

yeah, the triple-punishing of rangers and paladins for magic is absurd.

First, they get really slow progression and low #'s of spells.
They also get jack for spell selection - many of the spells are almost useless.
Finally they have to cast what meager number and selection of spells at 1/2 caster level?

WTF?

Anyone got a list of spells, and could analyze which ones are pretty much negated by the 1/2 caster level?

they also have good BAB and other nifty abilities that full spell casters don't get. Their spells are ment to complement them, but they aren't spell casters. They're bastard classes

I think that would be too much.
Yeah, favored enemy (human) is quite potent, especially if it is +2. But I don't really find it to be too much, at least not yet. Actually, I find it refreshingly gritty considering it is the ranger's main special ability. Like I said, it gives the ability some teeth. Perhaps your human population should fear those elven and dwarven, or even gnoll, rangers who know how to hunt them.
