Rangers and bastard swords

Seriously though, I like High Crit weapons. Particularly for Two-Weapon wielders. If I choose swords for thematic reasons, I'd probably choose the scimitars over the bastard sword simply for that extra damage on a critical. It's a situational bonus, but with all the attack rolls I'd be making, probably not that uncommon. The other (mathematically better) option is to go with Battleaxes and take the Deadly Axe feat. I don't remember the prereqs for that, but I'm sure it's doable.

Yeah, it was cool... the first time. When it got to the point when all he'd play was a half-elf ranger doing this, though...

At least he had fun.

And in 3.0, he did it too. He just sucked up the penalty.
