I think the DM made a bad call in regards to the wish and withholding the fact that it wouldn't work. IMHO a wizard powerful enough to be casting wishes as rewards for services rendered should certainly be able to tell if a request is beyond the power of the wish or not.

Saving this information until after you PC is killed and then telling you it doesn't work is a little unfair.

That being said it is good that your DM seems to be looking for input in the Rules forum as to whether this was a good/bad call. That is always a good sign that you have a fair-minded DM.

As far as the AoO thing goes since it was a long established house rule it shouldn't be changed.

thanks for all the input- but I just read the rules post by my DM and it seems like you guys are just telling us what we want to know- based on what we said in this thread... because in his thread- there are a lot of people who feel difefrently than here (and sometimwes its the verys ame people)

but- the point of this trhead was not to say that i got a raw deal- or that I am upset at the DM.

The point of this thread was me venting out all the stupid things that happened to me on that day. my package did not come in, no real adv, weird wish spell, dying from masive damage, losing my shoes, and stubbing my toe.

All I was looking for was some sympathy and maybe a hug... :(

*sniff*

just to recap what was said on the other thread:

I have been playing a barb for the alst 2 years (since 3e) and so knew nothing of casting. I took up a cleric cause we did not have one in the group and it was killing us (literally) and just hopped into one- at lvl 15.

I always thought that that rule (AoO for missed concentrate check) was a real rule- and only found out it was a house rule when i brought it up with him a couple days ago.

I just thought you guys were wonering if i was such an idiot that i have been a cleric fro two years and still was this ignorant of the spells and stuff- I never evene looked at that section of the book (minus reding through it when i firts bought the book) until very recently...
