[Rant] Internet providers know how to suck!

Lucky guy! When I called, they said it was my modem, which is perfectly okay! I would be glad they told me it was maintenance. Anyway, I have called them thereafter to tell them that I was really dissatisfied with this petty way of lying to clients.

The trick is, my modem is rented from the very same company. So, if they said it was the modem, they'd have to send a tech anyway to replace it. ;)

My house uses Comcast for our Cable TV and Cable Internet needs. I don't know if they're big outside of the NE United States, but around here, they've basically got a monopoly. And a bad one at that.

About two days out of the week the connection gets REALLLLY slow, for no apparent reason, probably 'maintenence'. And this is a very odd slowness. Downloads still go super fast, but EVERY webpage will take upwards of ten minutes to load, WITHOUT images.

And at $50 US a month, that's just not right. Oh, we've complained and all, but nothing ever happens. Basically the only reason we use Comcast and not some DSL or something is because my Dad is now an Everquest addict >_< and he needs the bandwith.
