Rant - "Its Overpowered.. what shall we do?"

Okay folks, does this bother other people as much as it bothers me?

The most recent example is the Entangle Needs Nerfing thread..
As the subject is impending IMC, I wanted to look for a fix to the issue and created a thread to discuss a House Ruled Entangle

Despite multiple posts of folks complaining about how devasting the spell is to thier games, very little effort/thought by those folks were applied to correcting the issue. At this point, the thread has wandered far enough down page to not be picked up again.

Its kinda like someone standing in the street and saying "That buildings going to fall on me.. someone should do something!"

Arrggh!

Not that I can do anything about it, and in a way I am standing in my own street yelling at my own falling building :)

Frag it all. I go back to wondering if my time has been worth the effort.

Really? Mmmmh... I could be tempted to play a Druid then...
Don't get your hopes up. We've used Entangle quite a bit, on both sides of the table, and it hasn't devasted either of our campaigns yet.

Personally, I think Evard's Blank Tentacles are more devastating than Entangle. I'm with Len, it's been used by both sides in my group and it hasn't "devastated" anyone.

People typically get more satisfaction and catharsis about complaining about a problem than in fixing it. Fixing it's hard; complaining is easy.

Ya, no one relaly wants to fix the problems. if the problems get fixed, they will have nothing to complain about and the good posters can't have that

Well, did you get a version of the spell that has less problems than the entangle out of the book? If not, it's not because no-one replied to your thread; IIRC there were several comments and proposals there.

I'll go look at the thread and see if there is anything I can do to help.
