Rackhir said:These toys have nothing to do with the creators, they are the unholy spawn of the marketing departments of toy companies that want more "product" to sell, so that they can get more money out of a character license. Just remember the Slug Man, 7Up comercial. Those are the people responsible for creating these abominatations.
Kids don't care that a car wasn't in a movie or doesn't exist in a comic book. They just want something that looks cool and they can push down the stairs. When I was little, I used to mix all my Star Wars, Mego, and Fisher Price Adventure People all together and use all the cars. It didn't matter that the Fisher Price jeep wasn't an X-Wing, or that Spiderman didn't drive a car and was twice the size of everyone else. I just wanted to pull all the toys out to the sandbox and run people over with cars.cignus_pfaccari said:Also, action figures tend to need vehicles, as it "enhances the play pattern." I imagine that many of these cars will be purchased by kids, and some by adult collectors who have even less of a sense of shame than normal.
Villano said:Actually, if I'm not mistaken, the Human Torch made Spidey a dune buggy in the comics (waayyy back in the '60s, I think), so the current toy isn't totally off the mark. Stupid, yes, but not without precedent.![]()
