Rapid Spell and Nature's Ally

A casting time measured in ROUNDS does not include one measured in a SINGLE ROUND.

ie, you can cast a Rapid Channeled Pyroburst in its 2-round casting time version by only channeling the spell for a single round (possibly, depending on the interpretation of the "casting time: varies" entry for Channeled Pyroburst).

However, if they're of the same time coverage, it's more difficult to understand what the Rapid Feat is meant for.

Let's say there's a spell that grants slashing weapons a +1 enhancement bonus, swords a +2 enhancement bonus, and longswords a +3 enhancement bonus.

I have a longsword. It's a slashing weapon, it's a sword, and it's a longsword. Which enhancement bonus does it get? The most specific one.

I have a Lesser Restoration spell. It's a spell with a casting time measured in rounds (3 rounds).

I have a Summon Monster spell. It's a spell with a casting time measured in rounds (1 round), and also a spell with a casting time of one full round (1 round). Which casting reduction from Rapid Spell applies? The most specific one. "Rounds" is a general case; "one round" is a specific case.

And thanks a lot Hypersmurf. Without you my understanding would still be on the wrong track right now

Thanks for all the feedback then chums. I will definately not be taking this feat.

I was looking into it becuase my druid got a Natural Spell nerf (can only cast self buffs and heal myself while wildshaped). My guy has Vow of Poverty and not the best physical stats, so most of his time was going to be in wildshaped form, but I was thinking of combining Fast Wild Shape (change shape as a move action) and Rapid Spell since I could cast Summon Nature's Ally as standard action and then Wild Shape as a move action, all in the first round. Just doesn't make much sense now though.

The good news is that my DM is allowing me to refeat out of Spell Focus: Conjuration and Augment Summoning. Now the new dilemma - what two feats do I choose???
