Rappan Athuk: Reloaded SOLD OUT by wide margin!!

Thanks Bowbe! :) I appreciate your helpful response to Numion's "concerns". I'm also happy with any involvement that Necromancer Games had in this, since I wanted it this since I first heard of it.

It does, thanks:)

TB,

I'm not sure if you read my previous post to you on page 5 (#182) but I think that some of your posts may have been responding to a comment I made that was intended to be firmly tongue-in-cheek, not a serious one. Just thought I would let you know.

What Olaf said, though I'd try FRP.com. They do good work.

Numion,

Not if they get undercut by Amazon. :p

Nightfall,

I haven't ordered from FRP Games but I have had nothing but great service from Noble Knight. FRP would have to be pretty good to compete (not that they aren't :) ).

Yeah, I did see that. Thanks for the heads-up:)

I just didn't want you to think that:

1. I was actually serious that game companies should bend over backwards to give us what we want.

2. Think that someone else actually made those comments and were serious about it. Some people post opinions that are strange enough that something like my tongue-in-cheek comments could be considered plausible!

I've heard this argument before, and it forgets one important thing. If the large volume businesses decide not to carry gaming stuff (which hasn't happened), there would again be a niche for gaming stores. Someone would fill that niche.

Besides, if low volume "gaming junk" wasn't worth their while, why haven't the online stores noticed it since .. since online stores started selling that junk?

Maybe my opinions are colored by my mixed feelings for the LGS here. They have a good selections of stuff, but it's hopelessly overpriced due to their monopoly, since internet stores aren't as common in Finland. And most gamers won't order from US Amazon. Which is pretty fantastic deal to europeans, even with the postage fees, since the dollar is weak.
Side note--Numion, I'm guessing you frequent Fantasiapelit in Helsinki; do you imagine they'll get 1 or more copies of Rappan Athuk Reloaded?

Olaf,

I can't speak about Noble Knight, but FRP has been very good to me too. Well service wise, not sure I can always speak about shipping. But hey shipping is where they get you anyway.

FRPGames has been great to me too. Sometimes, I even buy from them if the same item is cheaper at amazon. They actually are an FLGS (as far as I know) that happens to also have a big online component. Even though they aren't local to me, they've been great with customer service.

I can't recommend FRP enough for your gaming needs. I've known Shaw since 2001 and he is a great guy to do business with. He does indeed have a brick & mortar gaming store called Game Kastle, which he was able to open based upon the success of his online business. FRP is definitely a FLGS worth supporting. Preorder Rappan Athuk through him if you can.

On second thought ... (puts on MBA hat) ... if you sold out that quickly and you were committed to a limited run of 1000, then you probably underpriced your product a bit. No apsersions on your business prowess - forecasting is very difficult with a new product and serious market research just can't be cost-justified for this small of a product, but it's something to keep in mind for the next time. Perhaps you would have sold out at $85 too, and that would make about another $5500 in your pockets.
I have to agree. I can't imagine that the people willing to pay $75 for a limited edition version of an adventure would balk at $85 -- and if you're trying to sell a product with such hard-to-forecast demand, you need much, much wider margins than 10 percent or so.
