In the beginning of August i always wish I could go to Gencon and then when reading people's comments at the end of the month I long to go.

some year..... some year...... Maybe for DnD's 50th ann. There they announce 6e.

Me and the rest of the FDG crew had a blast. Wednesday set up was hot like always (the ICC doesn't turn on the AC until Thursday morning in the exhibit hall). Thursday night I played C&C and got two converts. Friday night was the Ennie Awards which were spectactular this year at the Indiana Roof Ballroom (not to mention actually winning the silver medal for best miniature product). Saturday night my entire crew got treated to a game of X-Crawl by Mr. X-Crawl himself Brendan LaSalle and had a blast (our record still holds, three adventures with Brendan and we have yet to even get half way through one...maybe next year).

As I spent most of my days behind the FDG booth I really cannot comment on the other activities, but people looked like they were having a great time and attendance definitely look up from last year.

HAD A BLAST!!

Unfortunately I didn't get to spend a lot of time with the EN Worlders this year, but the time I did was fun, as always.
Finally got to meet Queen D (thanks for the heads up on AU) but still haven't met the Universe even though they live less than a mile away. :(
The ENnies were awesome! It's always my pleasure to serve the community, thanks for allowing me to do so again Dex. Piratecat did a great job Emceeing as usual, and he even managed to keep his pants. Finally got to meet Morrus and my wife crashed his table for the first half of the ENnies awards.

As for the con itself, I was busy this year. Had games everyday but the last, my team made it to the second round of the D&D open tourney, but failed to make it to the final, oh well. Made the Hickman's Killer Breakfast this year - absolutely hilarious, and I got to die (along with everyone else) with Gary Gygax.

But the best thing of all this year was bringing my family along, my wife was very impressed with the civility and friendliness of my fellow ENworlders; Good on ya, mates! Having a blast last year was fun, getting to see them enjoy it (and my youngest daughter, who until GenCon was not a roleplayer) not wanting to leave, yeah, pretty special.

As for Paranoia - Crothian did a super job and all hail the sacred monkey! (cow). Your pre-digested algae-like food patties were tasty and satisfying. :) Can't wait for next year!

This was my first Gen Con so I'm not rating it.

Here's my Gen Con Photo Gallery. There's only a few EN Worlder's in it, and nothing from the Ennies ceremony.

(B.t.w-I'd be grateful if people would help me label the costumes I didn't recognise, which are marked ?? in the caption)

I was only at Gen Con for Friday and Saturday. So the best four days in gaming was only two for me.

The Good:
I met Gary Gygax--The number one goal.
I met Margeret Weis
I met the Geeklabel podcast people (got a free shirt)
I walked around the dealer room-the true pulse of Gen Con
I took loads of pictures (see link above)
I won a wonderful silent auction at the ENNies (easily the best value)
Met some EN Worlders (albeit briefly)
Attended Ennies
Got a couple of games in

The less good:
Only got a couple of games in.
Missed Diaglo's ODD (sending in apology)
Got lost a few times looking for things.
My feet were killing me.
Many escalators seemed to not work (yet more evidence of gamer obesity!?)

John, it was GREAT meeting you! I was really sorry that we didn't have time to sit down and chat for longer, or to game together. That's on my list for next time.
