I found this spell in Green Ronin's new Avatar's Handbook and am thinking of taking it for my conjuration specialist wizard since I just went up to 6th level. Should I get it?
Rally Standard
Conjuration (Summoning) [see text]
Level: Wiz/Sor 3
Components: V, S, M/DF
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft. 2/levels)
Target: Personal
Duration: 1 round/level
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: Yes (Harmless)
You summon forth a battle standard of your deity, cause or ethos. As long as you hold it, all allies, summoned monsters and enemies within range of your standard operate under the effects of a [I}prayer[/I] spell. In addition, any ally that uses a full move action to move towards your banner "rally" position receives a +10 ft. bonus to its normal movement rate.
You are considered proficient with it and may make one attack per round with the rally standard until you score a hit. Consider it a +1 quarterstaff for purposes of what types of creatures can be damaged by it. The rally standard inflicts 2d8 points of sacred or profane (depending on your alignment) damage on the target on a successful melee attack roll. If you drop the standard or use it to make a successful melee attack, the spell immediately ends.
While holding the standard, you may have one hand free and can cast spells freely or defend yourself with any one-handed weapon or shield you normally use. The standard is considered stationary once summoned and if you move from the position, you are automatically considered to have dropped the standard, ending the spell.
