I don't have a beard (darn it!) and I don't wear black t-shirts, but overall I'm pretty geeky. Not to a painful level, I hope. Fortunately I'm ok with being a geek. :D

If "gamer geek" = sloppy, unwashed, obsessive skinny/fat guy with poor social skills, I rate about a 2. I am overweight, but I don't leave the house without showering and dressing "properly", my social skills are pretty good (especially in formal situations), and I only reveal my obsessions around my gaming peers - I avoid scaring non-gamers by talking about my hobbies all the damn time.

Well, if the stereotypical gamer geek is male, under 30, bearded, wears lots of black t-shirts, plays Evercrack obsessively and lives in his parents' basement, then I'm a long way away. Because I'm a woman, 45, don't like black t-shirts generally, have never played an online game, and have a professional job and my own house. But I know all the gamer jargon, spend a lot of time working on characters or campaigns, game every week, have seen all the "classic" gamer movies, and spend way too much time on this forum.

:D

Gamer freak, not geek.

Somewhat, maybe, but only in mentality. I'm an obsessive gamer, a huge evercrack addict, and have been playing rpg's in one form or another just about as long as I've been able to read. I've also got an obscene amount of mostly useless information on generally geeky subjects. In terms of appearance I'm a bit off from the sterotype. Skinny white guy with dreadlocks (no, I'm not a hippie). I'm moderately pierced and tattooed. I smoke a pipe (tobacco pipe). Generally I dress in a motley assortment of military surplus and salvation army/thrift store fashion.

I probably rate a 2. I have pretty good hygene and I generally don't reveal my gaming habits around non gamers.

I'd say I rank maybe a 1 or a 2. I don't have a beard or goatee. I only own about two black t-shirts, and don't even wear them very often. I shower every day. My hair is short and clean rather than long and greasy. I play D&D every now and then (although not very often since my gaming group took up World of Warcraft), but I don't play it obsessively. I like Star Wars and have read a few of the Expanded Universe novels, but I don't own a shirt that says "Han shot first" or rave about how George Lucas raped my childhood because the prequels fell short of my impossibly high expectations. I've read Lord of the Rings a couple of times, quit the Silmarrilion out of boredom, and have no desire to read the Book of Lost Tales. I like some of the Star Trek movies and television episodes, but I don't speak klingon nor have I ever been to a Trek convention. I don't have a kneejerk hatred of sports or anything mainstream. I wasn't pushed around by jocks in high school, let alone blame my own inadequicies on traumatic high school teasing (as many geeks do). I'm not overweight (although I probably should get a little more exercise than I currently do) nor exceedingly scrawny. I like some anime movies and TV shows, but there's also a lot of anime that just plain creeps me out. I don't have women fighting over me, but I do go out on dates every now and then and I've even had a few girlfriends over the years. I own a few comic books, but I don't follow them religiously nor do I take personal offense if the latest comic book adaptation movie didn't strictly adhere to the source material.

So I'd say I'm maybe a 1.5.
