I gave myself a 3, although I'm heading away from some of the stereotypes. I am no longer a fat, bearded, everquest addict like I used to be. I'm now proportional, clean shaven, and haven't touched MMORPGs since the end of WoW beta. As far as social skills go, I'm doing better there as well. And I've got a job nowadays too. I'd say I was a 4 circa 2001.

I'm not working with all of the things that people have mentioned, more of what I think of as a geek. (My hygiene is good and doesn't factor into my geekiness)

I chose -1 for a few reasons.

I am in a fraternity (not the geeky type)
I play sports (and am fit)
I don't wear black t-shirts (unless they are undershirts for my polos)
I wear dress shirts and ties all the time (as I am a carsalesman)
I am considered metrosexual by many
I live on my own
I shower 2 times a day
I am clean shaven
Everything about my says anti-geek.

I just like to play games (board, card, video, table-top, mind)
Man, I should definitely work on my geeky image.

I was going to put a 1 or a 2 ...

But then I realized that in a an analytical test given to a couple interviewees a couple hours ago, I asked them to pick the best aircraft to carry freight along a notional network path.

That network path?

COR-CRL-KSL-COR

They were asked to evaluate 5 different aircraft types, one each from the following manufacturers:

Blissex, CEC, Hoersch-Kessel, Koensayr, and Sienar.

Yes, that's right, I asked them to evaluate which freighter to operate on a route that went from Coruscant to Corellia, Corellia to Kessel, and then back to Coruscant.

The freighters were made by the companies responsible for the A-Wing starfighter (technically Dodonna-Blissex), the YT series of freighters (like the Millenium Falcon), the majority of the Trade Federation's warships, the Y-Wing starfighter, and the Star Destroyers and TIE variants, respectively.

Yeah, that's at least a 3 right there. :D

That is hilarous! :D
What was this interview for?

sloppy - Sort of, I don't like cleaning.
unwashed - Unless on Roskilde, no ;)
obsessive - Defenitly not. I can't care less about the classical controversies between different games and editions.
skinny/fat guy - I exercise really much to get a good looking body and to get rid of stress, so no.
poor social skills - No, I'm hobby psychiatrist to several of my friends and lots of people seem to think I'm funny ~~
male - yes
under 30 - Yep
bearded - No. If you don't absolutely know that you look good in beard, don't get it. And just to be safe, don't get a goatee. That's my policy on beards.
wears lots of black t-shirts - No, and never with fantasy motifs.
plays Evercrack obsessively - No.
lives in his parents' basement - I have my own apartment.
doesn't have a job - No but it takes ages to finish my education (medicine). In two years I will be an intern though.
never had a girlfriend - I'm afraid of commitment so I have never had a relationship last more than three weeks, but most of my close friends at the moment are girls and I don't have a problem meeting girls.
enjoys geeky hobbies apart form gaming - I like Tolkien and CRPGs but apart from that I don't think so really.

I rated myself 1. I tell people that I play role playing games and don't really care about the reaction. As long as you don't say it defensively it's often no problems. I like to fiddle with my looks so the stereotype gamer look don't apply to me really but the fact that I'm posting here pushes me up one step IMO :).

What was this interview for?

A couple of people who were applying for jobs in my company. We're a [primarly] air freight consulting business, and I didn't want to use real aircraft statistics and names.

Unfortunately, none of the interviewees picked up on the references ... :(

So is this one of the job qualifications to be in the air freight business?

"Must be able to make the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs."

My girlfriend calls me a nerd jock. I wear my sports stuff while gaming, and my black geek shirts at practice and sporting events.

Peace and smiles :)

j.
