I enjoyed the movie, not overly much, but I always get a kick out of seeing my son's reaction to things, regardless. He likes the 3D, but the glasses hurt his nose. We both thought it was funny, but I am kind of disappointed at paying almost 25 dollars for the two of us. Should have waited for the DVD or pay per view.
On a really cool note, my son, who was 10 in January, shut me down in record time on a matter of logic. We were watching the preview of the new Star Trek movie with Zach Quinto as Spock, and he isn't familiar with any of the backstory, it being before his time.
When the Enterprise first showed up, he asked, "Is that a flying saucer?" I, being well-verse in Star Trek mythos, thought he needed an education, and was going to set him straight. I tried to explain the name of the ship and a bit of backstory, but he kept looking at me funny, and then asked me again, and then again a few seconds later when the Enterprise came on screen. Anyway, when I started in on my erudite dissertation in response to his third repeat of the question, he cut in with, "What!? It's round! It flies!" and then turned back to face the screen.
I had to laugh out loud. He was asking me the time, and I was saying, "This is how you build a watch."
