Guys, I have a favor to ask. I would like to know if there is room (and if you are comfortable) with adding a player to this game. He'd be new to the site and new to 5e, but he's a colleague, brilliant, funny, and well-spoken. He's a fellow attorney, but works elsewhere other than my office. I've not gamed with him, but my strong instinct is he's good people. After I recommended EN World to him, he wrote to me expressing excitement about possibly joining a game.

Thoughts? If you're more comfortable corresponding via PM about this, go for it. We have a good dynamic going on within our group. I don't want to ruin that...but I think this guy would fit right in.

Cool with me. That'll give me time.. Being his first time here and at 5e, might be best if he sticks to standard race/class combos from the PHB rather than the extra sources, just to make it easier. But it's his call.

I'm going to take what you've told me about your characters thus far, and possibly add in a little flavor from your background, and hopefully weave something together that resembles a worthy starting post. I like to take my time with these to hopefully set the mood for the campaign. Sometimes it works, other times, well...

It's fine with me, though if he is new to 5e then maybe it would be an idea to play in real life to familiarize with the rules? Just thinking there might be quite a steep learning curve

Oh, and referring to Wergil as gerbil would be a pretty good way to make him have a sense of humor failure!
If it helps, you can always use his full title of Junker von Stahlmannlichkeit..

No problems here, as long as IG is fine (and he says he is): I'm always happy to support newer players to the hobby (esp. since characters seem Junker and Junker every day).

Thanks, you guys. I'll write to him this morning with an invitation to play and a link to this OOC. He'll likely want a PHB. Not sure if he can make that happen today.


EDIT: E-mail sent. The invite specified current holes in party composition as a strength-based melee combatant and a rogue. That, of course, is a gross oversimplification. And, again, because we are sincere about wanting players to create a character they're excited about, don't feel you need to fill a hole in party composition. Just make whatever sort of character sings to you.
