Ravenloft Boardgame?

Now I'm curious to see what's going to be included in the "Wrath of Ashadarlon" game.

From the WotC D&D Twitter feed we get this link, which includes this picture of the contents of the Ashardalon box. We get a red dragon and some different characters from the Ravenloft game.

I enjoyed the brief game we played so much I immediately ordered it. Oh, and Amazon for some crazy reason has [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Wrath-Ashardalon-Boardgame-Peter-Lee/dp/0786955708/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1281738187&sr=8-1"]Wrath of Ashardalon[/ame] available for pre-order for $40.94. I like to support my FLGS, but that is a great price on a yet to be released game.

Thaumaturge.

I was seriously stoked for this. Sadly, after watching those unboxing videos, I'll a little less excited.

From the looks and sounds of it, they went with a cheaper, lightweight plastic for the miniatures, which will make them more prone to tipping over and/or breaking (especially if it's that really brittle crap some other manufacturers use for cheapie plastic minis). Also, and this is probably just me, I was really hoping for some Deathknell Vampire Spawn reprints. I'd rather have Vampire Spawn instead of Kobold Sorcerers and...well, almost anything in place of the Kobolds with spears.

Still, there's a lot I do like and it should be fun as a less involved dungeon crawl experience. Plus, it's a fair price for all that's included. More than that, I really want to support this because I'd love to see them release more of these in the upcoming years.

ETA: Also, why the hell didn't they include the actual Strahd mini? Don't get me wrong, both the Vampire Vizier and Vampire Aristocrat are better choices if you want a mini that looks the part, but considering they previous made a Strahd figure...why not use it?

Because the strahd mini is stupidly oversized?

Am I the only one that thinks it's hilarious that at the bottom of that picture is the text "Stones not included", just in case someone thinks that those huge slabs of slate the components are arranged on are part of the box contents?

Well you still see bags of nuts saying 'warning this product may contain traces of nuts'

Is Mike Mearls colourblind? He referred to the notably red miniatures as brown when bringing them out of the box. Not a big thing, just wondering.

Yeah, not a great thing for a man sized mini to need a cavalry base :hmm:.

Wow, you must have super powers to be able to discern the quality of plastic from a YouTube video. I had them in my very hands and couldn't give you the molecular structure as they felt just fine (and not brittle) to me.

All the interviews claim that it's the same plastic as the regular DDM line.
