That’s already been done in VGR. It’s subtle though, you need to know who “Firan” really is.Could also be a "what happens with a domain of dread when its prisoner escapes" and that have potential for some interesting things.

Not original art, but then you wouldn’t expect the art for a product that is still eight months from release to be done yet.is that fresh art? I feel like he would not have a hand sitting on his shoulder if it were
I don’t think WotC will be shy of slavery, no. I just think implying “you get to be a slave!” Is a really really bad marketing strategy. “Season of Liberation” would be a far better tag line for that approach.I don't think that's the kind of slavery that WotC would be shy of, in particular if they made leading a revolt a big part of the plot.
The timeline is all messed up anyway if you move between settings.Could be they will take the First World echoes idea from Fizban's and the DMG and apply it to Ravenloft...Soth is both in Ravenloft and on Krynn, before, during, and after the War of the Lance...all in different ways in different Echoes.
Didn’t seem to hurt the sales of Baldur’s Gate 3.a hyper specific adventure path meant to be played with hyper specific characters in a hyper specific setting

Video game. Plays by different engagement. Lots of people love Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and playing Cloud etc. I'm not sure how many. Would want to play FF7 beat for beat on paper using Cloud, Tifa and Aerith pregens as their characters. Different audience, different expectations.Didn’t seem to hurt the sales of Baldur’s Gate 3.
I'm not unconvinced that they MAY go with a Hunger Games approach: you are chosen (willing and not) to serve a particular City State/King in a contest where the winner gets resources for their people. Some are slaves. Some choose to represent their people. Some act out of fear, loyalty, or compassion. And some see it as a ticket to freedom, power, or luxury. Not saying that is what they are doing, but it IS an option for a story besides "kill the dragon kings"...I don’t think WotC will be shy of slavery, no. Although I think they will market it as Fantasy Fallout.
Something else just occurred to me: they might have decided to hand Dark Sun over to a 3rd party like they did Exodus.
I am not the biggest Dark Sun fan with only a surface level understanding of the setting but that sounds like a very cool and workable idea for a post-apocalyptic D&D setting.I'm not unconvinced that they MAY go with a Hunger Games approach: you are chosen (willing and not) to serve a particular City State/King in a contest where the winner gets resources for their people.
