Ravenloft: The Horrors Within

Ravenloft: The Horrors Within Announced, Release Date Scheduled for June 2026

Not original art, but then you wouldn’t expect the art for a product that is still eight months from release to be done yet.
I am not expecting that, but when someone uses the existence of new art as support for a DL product using it, it is fair to point out that the art probably is not actually new / not intended for that product

Different audience, different expectations.
I think the overlap is pretty massive! I know I do both, and I think you would be hard pressed to find anyone under 30 who doesn’t play video games.
I'm not sure how many. Would want to play FF7 beat for beat on paper using Cloud, Tifa and Aerith pregens as their characters
I would be up for that campaign! Certainly more interesting than FF7 without the interesting characters. Yuffi and Cait Sith can sit it out though.
you still get to make your primary character in BG3
You can do that, or you can play as a pregen or the Dark Urge, in which case you get more content. But the success of BG3 is built on the popularity of the characters (as it is for most popular stories). Even if it doesn’t carry over to many tabletop gamers, I can see execs looking at BG3 and saying “how can we copy that?”

Is it from somewhere else? If so, where? And why

I suspect that learning that would let us know a lot more about the story there (and which book it is likely to be in).
The hand is cadaverous and long nailed, and the grip is tight, not friendly, as if to assert control over Soth.

  • The obvious person is Strahd, but if they are both dark lords, they can never meet.
  • It raises the suspicion of being an AI artefact, it’s badly drawn, and so are Soth’s other hands. However, plenty of human artists are bad at hands, so I think innocent until proved guilty applies.
  • It may be cropped from an older piece, anyone recognise it?
  • On the balance of probability, I have to conclude that it is Emperor Palpatine.
  • Star Wars crossover confirmed!!!

First off, your logic is unassailable: that's clearly Uncle Palpie's hand. That being said, I will point out that - as least as I recall - Strahd and Soth did meet in the period where Soth had been pulled into Ravenloft but before he became a Dark Lord in his own right.
