Real Life Stuff That Seems Like RPG Stuff...

Have you ever encountered something in RL that made you think "That thing seems like something from an RPG..."

At the apartment complex I lived in in SF, we had this security company, that marketed itself as being "Green."

Since the complex was pretty big, rather then drive around in cars they rode these beefed up Segueys. (Is that how you spell that?)

The guys riding them were generally overweight and goofy looking, but it always made me think of something out of a cyberpunk game. Add a few weapons, and computers to the Seguey, give the riders those riot gear helmets, and better weapons...

The name of the company was Cypress Security, which also added to the cyberpunkiness too... (AlthoughI doubt thats what they were going for.)

Yep, no matter how hard you try, it is hard to look cool riding a Segway

If you try to look cool, and actually had the money to waste on one, you look smug at best.

The ones they design for security and real police work aren't bad actually.. They're much beefier, with like big off road looking tires, and more "stuff" hooked to them. That's why I say if you added some weapons to the thing they'd be somewhat intimidating. (Or at least look like something that isn't goofy.)

The issue I had with the ones they used for the security company were the guys riding them. They all seemed to have that stereotypical rentacop look.

Mildly off topic, but I have declared, that if I ever got a Segway, I would also have to wear a cape whenever I rode it.

I can imagine them being quite dangerous with weapons affixed. If you add the large heavy scythe blades that were used on Roman Chariots, you have something like War-Segways. They could mow people down just below the knees. Yikes!
