You know what would be fun? Using d20 Modern, and the stats for the Giant Crocodile that Henry posted, tell a group of Players to capture this beast (playing Ugandan rangers). [21 points of damage on average.]

Hell, even straight up killing it would be hard.

Only if it can get to you. That beast might be big and mean and strong as hell, but it doesn't have a gun.....

Bah, to heck with Modern...this screams CoC (especially using Hand of Evil's comment above). :)

Yeah, a CoC croc. Just as you think the thing is dead, grounded, bleeding and helpless, a nest of writhing oily black snakes burst from its swollen belly and enwrap your comrades, mercilessly driving thick tentacles into their orifices before slurping them inside out.

But the real thing was scary enough. I wouldn't go after that monster even if i had a gun.

The thing has eaten more than 80 people over the past two decades and they want to protect it? If it was the last crocodile on earth, I am not sure that would be a good enough reason to keep it alive if its killed 83 people. And it most certainly isn't the last croc on earth.

That thing is INSTANT stuffed museum exhibit if you ask me. If it had killed even one person, that would be enough. IF there is any credence at all to those stats in the least, kill it without the slightest hint of mercy.

This isn't a capital-pnishment debate. It's an *animal*. Different class, order & species. Off with its head.

And yet you've killed many spiders and flies etc in your life (probably a lot more than 83, i doubt you'd be pleased if they killed you for it).

I was pleased that these rangers had an enlightened attitude to not unduly punish an animal for doing what is natural to it.

EDIT: And as much as we hate to admit it, humans are animals too.

The largest crocodile ever held in captivity is an Estuarine/Siamese hybrid named "Yai" (b. 10 June 1972) at the famous Samutprakarn Crocodile Farm & Zoo, Thailand. He measures 6 meters. (19ft 8) in length and weighs 1114.27 kg. (2465 lb)
