Really pedantic axe question ("Krull").......

How would you classify these axes from the movie "Krull"....???

Here's the deal...... They look to be longer than either hand axes or throwing axes, yet shorter and not bulky enough to pass for battle axes. And the real puzzler is @ 31:05 of this abridged movie upload, when both of these apparently non-throwing axes are being ....... THROWN!!!

Easily battle axes, I'd say. Actually closer to a great axe since they only look to be wieldable two-handed. Size is comparable to historical two-handed axes - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dane_Axe
The throwing appears to be a magic effect, in general they seem to be lowish-power magic items.
I'd say either great axe, or very large battle axe if you want your great axes to be enormous. The D&D great axe is more an ahistorical fantasy weapon anyway so that seems reasonable.

Are you saying that Great Axes cannot normally be thrown, but if they are magical, they can be thrown?

I'm saying I would stat them as magic axes with a property that they can be thrown, and two thrown together can Restrain an enemy if both hit, at the cost of doing no damage...

Or perhaps a special effect inherent to the thrower (maybe just the 3e throw-any-weapon feat). The certainly don't look like they could be readily thrown to much great effect if used realistically. The combat of the movie is pretty stylized. In realistic terms, those are axes that could be used one handed, but not well. One-and-a-half-hand axes, if your edition of choice has that. Otherwise probably battle axes.
