Rebellion Era Campaign Guide

I think you'll find that RPGs generally sell to weakly to support print runs of supplements beyond the original. There are very, very few exceptions to this, even in D&D.

Possibly, but if you make your accessory books too hard/expensive to find then you kill off interest in your main books. Since WOTC obviously has more books in the pipeline it wouldn't be wise to damage interest in the rest of the line, especially core. Damage interest in the line, damage interest in the new books.

Given their reluctance to reprint old rules in new sourcebooks, I am imagining there will be reprints as long as economically viable, or as often as they can spare resources to update printings with errata, whichever happens least often.

I think there might be some issue where it's a licensed product? I know in the past they couldn't release as much new RPG material as they wanted to because they were limited to so many "releases" per year by Lucas, and they (Lucas & co) were counting mini releases as rpg releases. Perhaps they put reprints in the same bucket.
