Receive 1 healing spell per day limit?

I was thinking that it was strange to have characters getting 7 or 8 healing spells cast on them per day, almost everyday.

How about making only one healing spell work per character per day. Reguardless of spell level, just ONE spell &/or 1 potion.

Clerics wouldn't have to worry about spending all thier spells healing the party, cuz there would be only so much they could do. Characters would spend more down time healing between big fights (which seems more plausable).

What do you guys think?

It will make combat more deadly and will make multiple combats in a row very hard to do. I've run games with no clerics and that's hard enough to keep the characters around.
 

Dude, if you impliment this rule, my cleric will run up to enemies, cast a quickened cure minor, them HARM.

If you must do something make each healing spell heal (normal healing-# of healing spells already recieved) or something similar.
 


If you want to limit healing why not just make all healing spells one or two levels higher, or get eliminadte the big heal spells (the ones 4th level and higher). I'm not sure if limited the amount that can be healed is such a a good idea. When I want to limit healing I just make healing harder to do or to get.
 

I don't know... I find it extremely annoying how long healing takes as it is. I let my players give their characters their level plus Con mod every night of sleep, simply because even THAT isn't enough most of the time. The group only has a half a cleric (cleric/rogue) and she's evil anyway, so can't swap out healing spells.

I'd prefer my player's characters have a quiver of wands of cure light wounds than to have them leave the dungeon every single time they get smacked around a little.

I think the Wheel of Time game has magic healing convert damage to subdual damage rather than removing damage altogether. That might be a better way of limiting the power of healing than limiting someone to one spell per day.
 

If you're worried about your cleric having to cast only heal spells, invest in a wand of cure light wounds.

Well, from the little inf o posted I think that's a leap of assumptions there. Even in a heavy role playing game with little combat, healing is the clerics main job and after a few battles the cleric usually can get everything back to max HP.
